Discretionary travel has not been considered to be mainstream in the transport planning or modeling field because there is too much uncertainty in leisure travel with complexity and homogeneity. However, with routinized leisure life, leisure travel tends to become a habitual pattern of spatial behavior. This study requires constant travel time in leisure travel to contribute to the theoretical framework of leisure travel and the theoretical framework of travel behavior mechanisms, and aims to identify a constant of leisure travel time from the data of those who traveled by car on weekdays in 2010 and on weekends in 2012. These data use customer spotting technique based on a cumulative distribution function. The results of this study are as follows. The nature of travel time based on the lifecycle of a household depends on factors such as the demographics of the household, the travel destination, the type of travel destination, and the amount of money to spend on travel. In conclusion, we suggest that there is an existence of a constant of travel time for discretionary travel behavior on weekdays and on weekends. We also conclude that the constant of travel time and the characteristics of travel time in discretionary travel based on a household’s life cycle can provide the aggregated methods to forecast travel demands with approaches to reflect the characteristics of the traveler.
