To investigate the effects of task-oriented upper limb motor task after Low rTMS on muscle tone and upper extremity function in stroke patients over 65 years. The objects of this study were 20 stroke patients and each 10 patients were randomly assigned in two groups, experimental group performing task-oriented upper limb motor task after Low rTMS and control group performing common upper extremity therapy. Evaluation of muscle tone and upper extremity function was performed before intervention, after 4 weeks using muslce tone test(MyotonePrRO), upper extremity test(Box and Block Tes: BBT).
The result were as follows: there was a statistically significant increase in the muscle tension and upper limb function test in the experimental group compared to the control group in the comparison of the change amounts between the two groups.
This study showed that the task oriented upper limb motor task after rTMS improved the upper limb muscle tension and upper limb function of stroke patients aged 65 years and older.
Therefore, rTMS and task oriented upper limb motor task may be useful in the rehabilitation of stroke patients with 65 years of age.
