The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of bridge exercise with hip adductor contraction on core and low limb muscles activity. 12 elderly humans (5 men, 7 womne; 32.92±6.16 years) performed bridge exercises of 3 times for 5 seconds and rested for 3 minuets bweteen conditions. Bridge exercises were randomly performed general bridge exercise at surface of the stable (BES) & unstable (BEU) and general bridge exercise with hip adductor contraction at surface of the stable (BEAS) & unstable (BEAU). Maximal voluntary contraction (%MVC) of the core muscles (gluteus maxinus; GM, rectus abdominis; RA, erector spine; ES) and the low limb muscles (vastus lateralis; VL, rectus femoris; RF, vastus medialis; VMO) were measured from surface electromyography (EMG). %MVC of RA (p=.027). RF (p=.008) were significantly higher at BEAU compared with that at BES. And also %MVC of RF was significantly higher at BEAS (p=.046) and BEAU (p=.004) compared with that at BEU. %MVC of VL and VMO were significantly higher at BEAS (p=.039, p=.028, respectively) and BEAU (p=.031, p=.016, respectively) compared with that at BES. Also %MVC of VaLn d VMO were significantly higher at BEAS (p=.006, p=.002, respectively) and BEAU (p=.004, p=.001, respectively) compared with that at BEU. %MVC of VMO was significantly highe rat BEAS (p=.028) and BEAU (p=.016) compared with that at BES. Also %MVC of VMO was significantly higher at BEAS (p=.002) and BEAU (p=.001) compared with that at BEU. We demonstrated that bridge exercise with hip adductor contraction markedly produce low limb muscle activity.
