This paper is targeted at 113 Kumdo athletes who participated in “The 47th National Autumn University Kumdo Federation Competition,” held in Cheongsong Sports Training Center in Gyeongbuk in October, 2016, ranging from freshmen to juniors in the universities. The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of university Kumdo athletes’ achievement goal disposition on immersion in exercise and exercise adherence intention. Thus, I collected questionnaires using five-point scale of Likert. The questionnaires were written by self administration methods and consisted of four parts relating the achievement goal disposition, immersion in exercise, and intention of exercise adherence as factors I researched. After I entered all of the collected data in teams of two, I excluded several data with untrustworthy answers or some missing data and analyzed the rest of the data using SPSS 21.0 program according to the research’s purpose. After then, I used the statistics technique, exploratory factor analysis, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis for the analysis and reached the conclusion as follows. First of all, there wasn’t a significant difference in achievement goal disposition on immersion in exercise and exercise adherence intention based on Kumdo athletes’ gender. The athletes in the universities showed a significant difference in a task orientation factor that was a subscale of the achievement goal disposition, and the cognitive commitment factor that was the subscale of the immersion in exercise by each grade. Also, there was a significant difference in the exercise adherence intention. Secondly, according to their career, there was a significant difference in all of the task orientation and self-disposition factors that were subscales of the achievement goal disposition. On the other hand, the immersion in exercise and exercise adherence intention didn’t have any significant difference. Thirdly, the task orientation and self-disposition factors as the subscales of the achievement goal disposition showed a significant correlation with the immersion in exercise, cognitive commitment, and behavioral devotion. The exercise adherence intention also got the same result. Furthermore, the cognitive commitment and behavioral devotion that were subscales of the immersion in exercise had a significant correlation with the adherence intention. This means that two subscales had a mutual relation with every factor. For the next one, the task orientation factor that was a subscale of the achievement goal disposition did have a significant effect on the cognitive commitment and behavioral devotion and even the exercise adherence intention. However, the self-disposition factor didn’t significantly affect. Lastly, the cognitive commitment that was the subscale of the immersion in exercise had a significant influence on the exercise adherence intent.
