This paper aims to analyze the determinants of Kangwon`s financial self-sufficiency by deriving a regional input-output model based on the national input-output table. In addition, it measures the effect of tourism industry on the financial self-sufficiency of Kangwon Province and suggests ways of promoting its financial stability. Tourism-related industries in the region have great potentials with the production mulyiplier 1.71 and the LQ index, 1.83. Correlation coefficients between local tax revenue and the number of tourists, and the revenue from tourism are 0.9241 and 0.9800 respectively, showing close relationships between them. For example, when the production increases by 100 million won, the local revenue rises by 9.28 million won. In this respect, the growing demand of tourism in the region can have a favorable effect on the improvement of local finance though increasing production. Kangwon Province needs to make every effort to create more demand of tourism by developing a variety of tourist commodities and providing better services, instead of depending on the natural increase in the number of tourists. More discussions and investment are required to help the region more efficiently develop its tourism industry.
