This study analyzed and evaluated the efficiency of local public investment expenditures at Korea. The local production function and demand function for local public goods were estimated by applying a panel data analysis. In the estimation of the local production function, the coefficients of metropolitan area`s public investment expenditures were relatively greater than such coefficients of non-metropolitan area. And in the estimation of metropolitan area`s demand function for local public goods, the coefficient of per capita local tax revenue was significant and positive, but the coefficient of grant-in-aid per capita was not significant. On the other hand, in the estimation of non-metropolitan area`s demand function, the coefficient of per capita local tax revenue was smaller than the coefficient of grant-in-aid per capita. In this overall perspective, the public investment expenditure of metropolitan area was relatively efficient from the point of views of allocation and dynamic growth. However public investment expenditure of non-metropolitan area was relatively inefficient.
