The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of natural-material dyeing activities on the natural-friendly attitude and environment sensibility of children. A total of 40 children20 each in an experimental group and a control group from the five-year-olds class in the `H` preschool located in the city of `D` were assigned for the study. Natural-material dyeing activities were conducted in the experimental group, while daily-life-related activities were conducted in the control group. A test for nature-friendly attitude and environmental sensibility was conducted to verify the educational effect of the natural-material dyeing activity. The study tool included eleven nature-friendly-attitude related questions out of eighteen questions listed in the Children"s Attitudes Toward the Environment Scale-Preschool Version(CATES-PV), designed by Musser and Diamond (1999) and translated / revised by Huh Yoon Jeong (2001), to measure the nature-friendly attitude of children; This study used the questionnaire used by Kang Young Shik (2012) for measuring environmental sensibility, after making some adjustments for use with young children by modifying evaluation criteria, attaching photos to all questions, and revising some difficult-to-understand expressions. This study revealed that the experimental group, treated with experiences of natural-material dyeing activities, responds with more positive nature-friendly attitudes and environmental sensibility compared to the control group. This finding implies that natural-material dyeing activities can be utilized in child education fields as an effective teaching-learning tool that can foster nature-friendly attitudes and environmental sensibility.
