Urban regeneration projects in the past have caused mass demolition and migrants thereby incurring a problem in execution such as increase and house prices and instability of property rental markets in the surrounding areas. To prevent the problem proactively, the Moon Jae-in government has initiated the urban regeneration new deal project as one of the 100 top government projects, in which residents maintain the environment by themselves and communities are restored in principle. However, although characteristics of regional and target areas and project support details are explained by project models, specific progress measures are not yet established, which have slowed down the practical progress.
As a result, this study aimed to summarize the current status of the urban regeneration project and its application and search for future measures to progress and utilize the urban regeneration new deal project with regard to container architecture, which has been utilized partially in the urban regeneration project in Korea and other nations. For successful progress of the urban regeneration new deal project, a kind of tool (tentatively called menu board) is needed as one of the diverse choice alternatives.
