Current leasure activities has been showing a notable family-centered trend in general and there has been a continuous increase of family travels. Also, the role and influence of housewife in decision-making for family tour have substantially increased. In this regard, Smith reported that housewives are playing a decisive role in the determination of tour plan, including tour destination, lodging, and expense. The growing women`s influence on decision-making for tour can be a significant change and among the essential factors to tour marketers. This study aimed to understand the family tour behavior in depth and to investigate its possible applications to the establishments of national tour promotion policies through corroborative analysis of the influence of housewife on decision-making for family tour. For this purpose, a comprehensive survey was conducted in November, 2001 on housewives throughout the country who took family tour in the year of 2000. The results indicates that there are appreciable differences in the key factors on the family tour decision-making according to the characteristics of housewives as well as in their influences according to tour steps; in addition, the education and/or the average income level of each housewife in population statistic factors are found to affect on their influence to the tour itself and their preference to tour destination; besides, decision-making method in the family and the degree of respect to a person`s opinions are confirmed to make substantial differences.
