The purpose of this study is to forecast tourism demand for Mapo district based on visit experience rate and estimate the economic impact of inbound tourism using Regional Input-Output(Regional I-O) model. Onsite surveys were conducted to estimate visit experience rate and tourist expenditures from September 26 to October 26, 2015. For estimation of the visit experience rate of Mapo district, the onsite surveys were conducted for foreign tourists outside of Mapo district, whereas for estimation of tourist expenditures, the onsite survey was conducted for foreign tourists within Mapo district. The survey results indicate that foreign tourists who visited Mapo district in 2015 represented 58% of total foreign tourists in Seoul, indicating 58% of the visit experience rate of Mapo. The survey also shows that per capita expenditure of foreign tourist was estimated to be 159,228 Korean Won and total expenditures of foreign tourists to Mapo were estimated to be approximately 961,698 million Won when considering total tourists of Mapo. The results of Regional I-O model indicate that total foreign tourism receipts of Mapo generated 1,916,179 million Won of output impact, 376,606 Won of income impact, 801,770 million Won of value added impact, 11,816 million Won of tax impact, and 17,171 jobs.
