This study identified the shared leadership of hotels and how it affects team efficacy and team performance. In addition, the mediating effects of team efficacy were examined. Based on the literature review, attributes derived for this study were shared leadership, team efficacy, and team performance. In this study, 275 valid questionnaires conducted to operational team employees at 10 five-star hotels were used for the frequency analysis, reliability and CFA, correlation analysis, and SEM. In the results of this study, it was verified that directional, transactional, transformational, and empowering shared leadership, which are sub-factors of shared leadership, affected team efficacy. Additionally, team efficacy was influential to team performance. On the other hand, transformational and empowering shared leadership in the sub-factors of shared leadership affected team performance significantly. However, in the results of measuring indirect effects, directional and transactional shared leadership had a significant impact on team performance through team efficacy. Thus, the formal leader of the hotel has to try to instill team organization mutual leadership rather than vertical leadership. In this respect, shared leadership can offer mutual information, open communication, and proper direction for hotel employees.
