A sliding bush used in low-speed and high-load ranges is one of the most severe wear parts in construction equipments. In sliding conditions of low-speed and high-load of the construction equipments, a localized plastic deformation of the material occurs, and the plastic deformation induces the damage to the bush. Also, in many cases the damage of bush and counterpart are accelerated by the presence of dust or sand between the bush and the counterpart. In order to prevent this kind of wear induced damages, it is common to supply grease regularly at sliding bush in construction equipments. Therefore, the grease supply interval time is very important for the prevention of the damage of bush and counter parts. But, grease supply interval time of commonly used bush system in construction equipments is very short, and this short grease supply interval time induces the maintenance problems. Thus, in order to prolong the greasing interval, the shaft and the bush need to have high strength, high wear resistance, and good lubrication. In the study, for the purpose of the object, we designed several sliding surface patterns on bush, and evaluated the correlation between designed patterns and contact pressures. And then, it is also demonstrated the effect of various surface hardening methods on the patterned sliding surface of bush.
