The purpose of this study is to compare the general characteristics and health status of the young-old elderly and the old-old elderly using ths KLoSA data conducted in 2016, And to analyze the factors.
First, in the case of general characteristics, the rate of the young-old elderly living in the city is higher than that of the old-old elderly. The proportion of the young-old elderly taking higher education is higher that that of the old-old elderly. The proportion of the young-old elderly who think that they are more than middle-class is also higher than that of the old-old elderly. In addition, the ration of the young-old elderly owning real estate assets, residential housing is higher than that of the old-old elderly. In the case of social support characteristics, the proportion of the young-old elderly participating in the social activities is higher than that of the old-old elderly. In the case of lifestyle, the percentage of the young-old elderly who regularly exercise, drink alcohol, and smoke is higher than that of the old-old elderly. In the case of health status, the old-old elderly perceived that their subjective and objective health status is lower than that of the young-old elderly.
After that, factors affecting the health status of the young-old elderly and the old-old elderly were analyzed. Factors affecting the subjective health status of the young-old elderly are socioeconomic factors, social support factors, and lifestyle factors. Also the objective health status of the young-old elderly is influenced by demographic factors, socioeconomic factors, and lifestyle factors. On the other hand, in the case of the old-old elderly, socioeconomic factors, social support, and lifestyle factors were found th heavily affect the subjective and objective health status.
