In this paper I discuss how Confucianism and Christianity view the popular culture. Confucianism is a cultural religion which estimates the cultural value very highly. But I find two paradoxal perspectives on popular culture in Confucianism. On the one hand Confucianism has been acknowledged the rights of ordinary peoples. On the other hand it estimates the mass media in the modern capitalistic society negatively. As the result Confucianism can not find the way of the positive approach to the popular culture in spite of its potentiality. Christianity also has been developed the various attitudes to the secular culture. Among them I find a positive attitude to the secular culture in the Reformed worldview. Especially the dogma of 'general revelation' and 'common grace' give the way of positive approach to the popular culture. Recently Korean Christians have been used more and more the popular culture positively. Such a difference of the cultural attitude would have influence on the future of religions in Korea.
