In this article we seek after the content and the meaning of A Story of Insect written by Lee Cheong-Jun, and then we study the movie Secret Sunshine(Milyang) based on this short story. The film director Lee Chang-Dong adapted freely the original work. Accordingly we investigate how the film director transformed the original story, and then which world view is related to this transformation. In A Story of Insect, the insect means the human being who degenerate inevitably into a being of no account when the dignity of person is trampled on by God. When she recognize that human being is worthless before God, the heroine of the story commit suicide to destroy the world of providence. We consider that the humanism or the existentialism is reflected in this story. But the heroine of the film has a preference for the resistance in life, and she gropes for a new way of salvation: from a transcendant salvation to a salvation in this ordinary world. Literature and film are in rivalry, for the most direct and strong challenge which provoked "the crisis of literature" is movie. But now we should grope for a way of coexistence. This is the way to give life to the movie as well as a way to put vigor into the literature itself.
