This thesis considers the theology of Calvin as theocentrism. But its theocentrism is not simple. According to Ritschl, God of Calvin has a nominalistic character of ‘potentia absoluta’ so that his thought centers at the transcendant, absolute and even tyrannical God. Doumergue reputed that God of Calvin is not only of ‘potentia absol u t a’ but also of ‘oequissima justitioe ratione’ and of love and salvation. This theocentric interpretation of Calvin’s theology is criticized by the christocentric interpreters, for example W. Niesel, nevertheless R. Stauffer confirms Calvin’s theocentric thought through his enormous study of the sermons of the reformer. I regard that God of Calvin has a dialectical character of transcendence and immanence so that his thought is theocentric by the bi-polaric God. This perspective is important for the Korean Church dominated both by the secularism that absolutize the seculars for example, number, material, money, building etc. and by a kind of separatism, for example, egoism, authoritarianism, sacerdotalism, mysticism, escapism, indifference and irresponsibility to the society, abandonment of the history etc., because Calvin’s bi-polaric God centered theology can be an alternative for the Korean Church which is suffering from bi-polaric double problem.
