In Joseon period, it was allowed to be dual with the heavy make-up in gisaengs and the non-heavy make-up in general women. This is attributable to Confucian ideas. Even the make-up style in general women became the heavy make-up while suffering Imjinwaeran(Japanese invasions of Korea) and Byeongjahoran(Second Manchu invasion of Korea). However, the make-up in women of Joseon period wasn't heavy, but was softer and more refined than any other eras. Women in Qing Dynasty had features in a figure like the leaves of a willow, long face, thin eye, and lips as red as a cherry. This was reflected even in a figure painting, thereby having signified the internal beauty in addition to the pathologic beauty in light of a form. The make-up culture, which was shown in a figure painting during Joseon period and Qing Dynasty, is reflecting a typical woman's image in each country. In Joseon period was preferred the make-up style in healthy feminine beauty. On the other hand, the make-up style in pathologic woman was shown in the phase of the Qing period. As the above, the make-up culture in Qing Dynasty was reflecting not only a sign of the times but also feminine beauty in each country.
