This study was aimed to develop biology inquiry modules using familiar materials that can be easily found in everyday life, as an alternative to the current laboratory experiments. The ideas for the modules in this study are based on the subject contents in the “Structure and Functions of Plants” for 8th graders, accompanying 13 inquiry skills elements of SAPA II. Experimental materials for each developed module were composed of what students can easily find in their everyday life. A group of teachers was participating to evaluate and assess these modules. A group of teachers found that these modules could contribute to improve students' science process skills and students could be very interested in them because they were composed of materials familiar to them. The developed modules were applied to 4 eighth graders in M middle school located in Chungbuk. Students showed a positive response and a great interest to the module experiments composed of materials familiar to them, unlike current laboratory experiments. Moreover, the modules have given them a positive effect on their science process skills and scientific attitudes.
