경화성 피막성 복막염은 복막투석 환자에게 생기는 드문합병증으로 높은 사망률을 보이는 심각한 질환이다. 치료 중인 경화성 피막성 복막염에서 세균성 복막염이 병발한 경우의 치료는 정해진 바가 없다. 비슷한 시기에 스테로이드 치료도중 세균성 복막염이 병발한 경화성 피막성 복막염의 유사한 두 증례를 경험하였고, 한 예는 대증 치료와 항생제만 유지하여 결과가 좋지 않았으며 다른 한 예는 항생제 및 적극적인 수술적 치료를 통해 좋은 결과를 얻었다. 경화성 피막성복막염에 세균성 복막염이 병발하여 항생제 치료에 호전되지않는 경우, 적극적인 수술적 치료를 고려해야 할 것으로 생각한다.
