스텐트혈전증은 드물지만, 일단 발생하면 심근경색으로 발현하는 경우가 많고 이에 따라 사망률이 높다. 최근 지침에서는 스텐트혈전증을 예방하기 위하여 급성 관동맥증후군(acute coronary syndrome) 환자에서 관상동맥중재술 전후 aspirin과clopidogrel의 복합 항혈소판제를 부하용량(loading dose)과 유지용량(maintenance dose)으로 투여하기를 권고한다[1]. 하지만 급성 관동맥증후군 환자에서 심각한 출혈이 함께 동반되었을 경우에 관상동맥중재술을 시행할 적절한 시점 및 항혈소판제의 사용을 결정하는 것은 쉽지 않다.
