Currently, the moral strength of the GOP unit, who stand face to face with North Korean forces for 24 hours along the 155 miles long armistice line, can be considered as an important factor that is directly connected to the nation’s security. Because this is the case, the front unit’s commanders are putting in significant effort to reinforce the soldiers’ moral strength. However, there were necessities for improvement in education because of the unit’s special condition as it’s in the contact area, disposition of new generation soldiers, and extreme tension and isolation. As a solution to reinforce the moral strength of GOP unit soldiers, the ROK Army has developed a GOP healing program(GOP life-death education) and has conducted the program in all GOP battalions. This program includes communication, experience, and unification activities and is modified according to the units’ characteristics. It helps GOP soldiers to relieve anxiety, gain confidence in combat performances, and enhance teamwork and comradeships. This research has reviewed what effects the GOP healing program has given to enhancing the units’ moral strength, and furthermore surveyed 123 soldiers form GOP battalions to search for development measures. The research has analyzed the survey result from 101 soldiers excluding omitted results and surveys done by soldiers who haven’t participated in the program. Through the research we have reached the conclusion that selecting the right budget, education by experts, and education based on performances and cultural-arts is helpful for enhancing the soldiers’ moral strength and promoting spirits.
