The purpose of this study was investigate the effects of 12weeks aerobic exercise training on body composition, maximal oxygen uptake and carotid artery intima-media thickness, carotid artery luminal diameter in middle-aged obese men. Subjects were consisted of fourteen middle- aged obese men(Control group: 7, Exercise group: 7) whose the body mass index was more than 25kg/㎡ . The aerobic exercise training program was composed of 40-50%HRR during first 6 weeks, 60-70%HRR during 12weeks, 60minutes a day for 5 day a week. We found that body composition was significantly decreased after 12 weeks aerobic exercise training and maximal oxygen uptake was significantly increased after 12 weeks aerobic exercise training. Furthermore CIMT, CLD, BLD and RLD were improved by aerobic training. In conclusion, aerobic exercise training was shown to positive influence on body composition, maximal oxygen uptake, carotid artery IMT and artery luminal diameter in middle-aged obese men. So it is may be thought that aerobic exercise training is very helpful for prevention of atherosclerotic vascular disease a kind of coronary artery disease and cerebrovascular disease in middle-age obese men.
