The purpose of study is to examine the influence of factors on children’s suicidal ideation. Risk factors influenced on suicidal ideation are composed of school violence victimization, parental violence, and academic stress. This study investigates the effect of risk factors on children’s suicidal ideation and the mediating effect of the self-esteem. The data from 10thwave Korea Welfare Panel Study(KOWEPS) was used. The analyses were conducted on 458 elementary school students(4th-6th grades). Structural equation modeling by using AMOS was used for this study. As results of the study, first it is shown that school violence and academic stress have negative impact on self-esteem. Second, school violence is the only factor that has significant effect on suicidal ideation. In addition, parental violence and academic stress do not have a direct impact on suicidal ideation, unlike the results of previous researches. Also, there is no mediating effect of self-esteem. Based on these research results, this study suggests that there is a necessity for intervention for the purpose of prevention of suicidal ideation among children.
