This study aims to investigate university students’ affective domains for team teaching in the general English program, as well as students’ opinions of the Speaking Lab. In total, 169 freshmen participated in the survey, which involved two kinds of questionnaires. One was a pre and the other a post self-evaluation that consisted of 15 items concerning the students’ affective domains and 5 items pertaining to the Speaking Lab. The results of the study are as follows: First, among the affective domain, the students’ interests, motivation, and participation showed a significant increase. Second, the students showed more interest when they attended class in a state-of-the-art classroom as opposed to in a regular classroom. Furthermore, students’ interest levels were dependent on their majors. Third, the frequency and visiting hours at the Speaking Lab were once a semester and for about 5 minutes, respectively. The students recognized that the Speaking Lab was helpful in that it allowed them to practice their conversation skills. This study suggests university authorities prepare more state-of-the-art classrooms, provide English medium instruction according to majors, and give students some manner of compensation to attract them more often to the Speaking Lab.
