In this paper, I studied about Baeksa(白沙), Lee Hangbok's essay on poetry and prose. BaekSa was highly valued that he contributed to Choson dynasty's reconstitution and nation's order during internal disorder period of ImJin-war and King GwangHae. His reputation was not limited to this contribution to nation, but he was highly evaluated as a good writer and was seen influence to the literary world. He didn't make so much comments on literature, but expressed his opinion concretely as follows : Regarding the poem, he valued the poem flowed from pure nature highly. And this could be connected to Tianqi(天氣) theory. JangYu(張維), one of BaekSa's pupil, was mentioned whenever Tianqi(天氣) theory was discussed. So they seems to influcence each other. For the Prose respect, he was based on traditional Yangqi(養氣) theory from MengZi(孟子), but some change could be seen, which he focused on speculation in creative literature and Wenqi(文氣) in prose, and he recognized writer's characteristic traits. The time, he lived, requested 'changing' from the shock and confusing of the ImJin war and changing ideology and value and he was in the center of this. Therefore the study on his literature make it easy to understand the complicated literary world of Choson dynasty and hereafter.
