There are poetry and prose as means of the most general, traditional classification of literature, and still it's not easy to explain theoretically what is poetry's peculiarity different from prose's as well as what is distinctively differential element of each one.
The fact is that presenting such a question as this classifying itself is being denied, because there is a deepening tendency, especially in Korean literature today, for boundaries between genres to turn vague. Even if so, it cannot be meant that the very essential element creating poetry doesn't exist.
In this study, as concerned with the form of poetry traversing the boundary between poetry and prose, we will pay attention to Kim Ki-rim. In this type of poetic form, found in possibly named prose poems and often used by him as a method to deconstruct existed poetic rhythm, the quality of being orderly in works is so excluded that there may be found only the ambiguous boundary between poetry and prose especially like artistically prosaic essays.
The negative attitude toward rhythm found through his poetic theory made his works driven into their prosing tendencies, which above all might be related with a phenomenon of genre being deconstructive in a writing way of modernism. And it may be expected that the genre-deconstructive writing such as this modernistic way will present us a device in order to connect our using creative language to literary writing.
