The purpose of this study was to investigated the relationships among interpersonal relationship abilities, self-esteem, and overuse of smartphones in nursing students. It collected data through a questionnaire of 264 nursing students from E-gun, North Chungcheong Province. Research has shown that over use of smartphones has a statistically significant correlation with self-esteem. Self-esteem and interpersonal relationship abilities have statistically shown a static correlation. There were statistically significant differences in the smartphone usage time and monthly usage fee, and statistically significant differences in school life satisfaction, paternal relationship formation satisfaction, mother relationship satisfaction, and satisfaction with friends. The regression analysis shows that the factors affecting nursing college students' interpersonal skills were satisfaction with friends, satisfaction with school life, and self-esteem, and that 24 percent of them explained. In order to improve the interpersonal relationship abilities of nursing students, effective management and intervention will be needed to enhance self-esteem and build relationships with parents and friends.
