This research aims to examine how marriage immigrant women‘s mental health in South Korea varies by the source of social support and the experience of discrimination. This study assumes that different sources of social support have a disparate impact on the respondents’ mental health respectively. Social support from those who come from the same country could promote their mental health by providing with emotional support and information. In contrast, it could aggravate their mental health by delaying adaption to Korea. Koreans’ social support with information could contribute to their better mental health. However, marriage immigrant women‘s mental health could deteriorate when Koreans’ social support functions as a provider of social norms. Social support from immigrants with different cultural background could promote their mental health by emotional support and information, and yet cultural difference among them could decrease their mental health. The 2015 National Survey of Multicultural Families in Korea is analyzed. The results show that, after controlling for the influences of confounders, each source of social support has a different impact on marriage immigrant women’s mental health. For those who are with a discrimination experience, the effect of social support on mental health also varies by the source of social support.
