The purpose of this paper is to verify the results of Paeseol[稗說] research in the early Joseon period and to seek directions for it. I approached Paeseol research achievements and directions in three aspects. First, I looked at the achievement and directions with a focus on ‘TaePyeongHanHwaGolGyeJeon[太平閑話滑稽傳]’. This book is not an official historical record, but an individual historical record. Second, looked at the achievement and directions with a focus on ‘ChonDamHaeYi[村談解頤]’․‘EoMyenSoon[禦眠楯]’․‘SokEoMyenSoon[續禦眠楯]’. All three books focused on the sexual discourse. Among them, ‘ChonDamHaeYi’ followed the writing method shown in ‘TaePyeongHan- HwaGolGyeJeon’. At the same time, he carried more negative characters than positive characters. ‘EoMyenSoon’․‘SokEoMyenSoon’, on the other hand, aimed at writing with a focus on sex discourse. This is the result of the change of public writing to private writing. Third, I looked at the achievement and directions with a focus on ‘JongLiHoRo[鍾離葫蘆]’. There is no big difference between a book ‘JongLiHoRo’ published in Joseon in 1622 and a book ‘JeolYoungSamSo[絶纓三笑]’ published in China in 1616. The book ‘JongLiHoRo’ was the result of following universality in the East Asian literary order. However, in the late Joseon Dynasty, the works were adapted to suit the special emotions of Joseon. This book was written in a time when universality of East Asia coexisted with Joseon specificity.
