This study presents a meta-analysis research to test the effects of essential oil on acne skin based on non-randomized experiment papers in the nation. Research results published between 2000 and 2017 were systematically collected in accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis). Total six pieces of literature were chosen after the exclusion of improper ones. The aim of study is to examine the effect size of essential oil on acne skin with six variables of acne skin (pores, red spots, melanin index, KAGS, sebum, and number of microorganisms). Meta-analysis covered the interpretation of the six papers in effect size, homogeneity testing, confidence internal of 95%, analysis of publication bias (Funnel plot). These findings demonstrate that essential oil had average effects on acne skin improvement in terms of pores and huge effects on it in terms of red spots, melanin index, KAGS, number of microorganisms and sebum. The present study is significant in that it demonstrated for the first time the effects of essential oil on the improvement of acne skin based on a meta-analysis.
