The rise of event tourism has brought significant impacts on economy, society, culture, and environment to host cities. Understanding residents’ perception of event impacts and their supports is an important part to the sustainable development of event tourism. Despite as the trust, place involvement and other antecedent latent variables examined as effective predictors of residents’ attitudes toward event tourism, residents’ place image and their event attachment are still rarely discussed. Based on the Social Exchange Theory (SET), residents’ perceived event impact latent is used as the mediator by this study, and the model relationship between residents’ place image, event attachment and their supports for event is constructed. AMOS and SPSS PROCESS are used to calculate model’s structural-relation and the mediation effects, respectively. Findings suggest that (a) a direct positive relationship exists between residents’ perceived positive event impacts and their support for it, a direct negative relationship exists between residents’ perceived negative event impacts and their support for it; (b) a direct positive relationship exists between resident’s place image, event attachment and their supports toward event, and event attachment’s path coefficient is higher than place image; (c) the relationship between residents’ place image, event attachment and their supports toward event is mediated by their perceived positive event impacts, but is not significantly mediated by their perceived negative event impacts.
