This study aims to carefully examine the revised bill recently passed by the Special Committee for Political Reform of the Korean National Assembly and evaluate its consequences through simulations analysis. As a result of applying the rules of the bill to the 20th general elections, the electoral disproportionality has been reduced. Second, electoral regionalism has eased nationwide. Although the most noticeable improvement has been in Seoul and Gyeonggi, not where regionalism is considered strong, these regional gaps in the effects of improvement do not directly negate the effect of the revision. Third, minority representation has improved compared to the current electoral rules as it makes it easier for minor parties to enter the floor. However, the best-loser-system of the bill could make it difficult for political newcomers to make their debut. Lastly, the revision will be good for intraparty democracy because it sets up compulsory regulations to ensure that the nomination process is carried out in accordance with democratic procedures.
