This paper is aimed at comparing two reform plans, Yeorikyoung(閭里頃) of Bangye(磻溪) Yu Hyeong-Weon(柳馨遠) and Yeojeon-ron(閭田論) of Dasan(茶山) Jeong Yak-Yong(丁若鏞). The main anaysis results are as follows.
First, both plans were proposed to address the contradiction on land ownership in the late Joseon Dynasty. Also, the use ‘閭’ as an basic administrative district was the same for both.
Second, both intended to enlarge public land(公田), but they had different ideas about how to distribute and cultivate. To be more specific, Bangye(磻溪) planed to convert Sajeon(私田) which means privately owned land to public land, and to distribute to People. Meanwhile, Dasan(茶山) planed Yeojeon-ron(閭田論) as a model of co-cultivating farm to increase labor productivity.
Third, there is a difference in the method of making district between Yeorikyoung(閭里頃) and Yeojeon-ron(閭田論). That is, while Bangye(磻溪) regarded Nine-Squares Districted Land(井田) as the model of land-division, in Yeojeon-ron(閭田論) Dasan(茶山) focused on redistribution and co-cultivating of land than land district.
