Recently, diverse live-action films as well as animated movies have been produced based on Snow White, a fairy tale honored to be named ‘UNESCO Memory of the World’. Under these circumstances, this study attempted to investigate movie characters which reflect such current situations by comparing each film’s makeup coordination. It is meaningful in that it confirms the value of makeup coordination as a means to recreate characters according to a genre and current of the times. In terms of study methods, among the films produced based on Walt Disney Productions’ film ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, a total of 3 remakes (‘Mirror Mirror’, ‘Grimm’s Snow White’ and ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’) but the black-and- white movies were chosen, and a literature review, the Internet data survey and analysis of captured scenes were performed. The above analysis has compared the Queen’s makeup coordination in the film ‘Snow White’. Even under the same movie, characters would be reinterpreted differently depending on the importance of beauty industry, characters’ personalities, current of the times, story change, director/producer’s tendency and genre. As a result, differences in makeup coordination can take place. These days, diverse remakes and spinoff live-action films as well as fairy tale-based animations have been produced. Under these circumstances, it is anticipated that the study results would be available as basic data for the development of beauty industry, making people recognize the value of makeup coordination as a means to recreate characters according to a genre and current of the times.
