As the lymphography is considered to be a valuable method for direct roentgenographic visualization of retroperitoneal lymphatics and lymph node, this procedure has been used to demonstrate clinically unsuspected involvement of retroperitoneal lymph nodes in malignant lymphoma. To 28 patients who was proved malignant lymphoma histologically by biopsy of peripheral lymphnode from May, 1977 to June, 1978, bipedal lymphography by minor modification of Kinmouth's (1952) intralymphatic technique was performed for detecting lymphomatous involvement of retroperitoneal lymphnode at department of radiology, Presbyterian Medical Center in Jeonju. The results are as follows: 1. Of 23 lymphography in malignant lymphoma, 15 were abnormal and 8 normal. 2. The over all advancement in clinical stage Iand II combined, due to abnormal lymphography, is 53%. This results reveals that in 1 of every 2 cases classed as stage I or II on initial diagnosis, the patient already has occult disease und tectable by physical examination or simple radiographic investigation. 3. In clinical stage III and IV patients, lymphography has been of value in delineating the extent of abdominal disease, but has not influenced the staging. 4. As case report (I) reveals, the follow-up lymphographic study can aid in evaluation of therapeutic effect. 5. Of 28 undertaken lymphography, only 20 cases could be cannulated bilaterally, suggesting some technical difficulty as compared with other radiologic method. 6. Complications of 27 lymphography are dull pain, oozing at cut-down site and the swelling of the foots. Of above complication, dull pain was the most frequent problem.
