The characteristic of general Chinese language is that the students with various individual characteristics such as major, grade, and personality are learning together in the same classroom. Thus, for the effective Chinese language education, it would be more important to understand the learners than Chinese course as a major.
Also, in the various individual characteristics of learners, the learning style is one of the main characteristics that should be understood by professors because the learning style could have influences on the academic achievement and satisfaction in the connection with students’ preferred teaching methods and educational activities.
Thus, this thesis understood the learning styles and preferred teaching methods of general Chinese language learners, and then analyzed the correlation between those two factors. Especially, to the professors who teach general Chinese language, the major and sex are the characteristics of learners that could be understood the most easily, so that the analysis focused on those two variables.
Also, in the various individual characteristics of learners, the learning style is one of the main characteristics that should be understood by professors because the learning style could have influences on the academic achievement and satisfaction in the connection with students’ preferred teaching methods and educational activities.
