On a cumulative basis in April 2020, a total of 353 complexes, 2,266 residential buildings, and 167,721 households reside in Cheonan City. Moreover, the supply of large-scale apartment residential complexes in Cheonan and nearby areas, which is currently being promoted, is continuing. Multi-family housing has become a means of mass supply because it can accommodate many households in a small area, and due to the mass supply, uniform apartment designs and architectural elements that do not meet the living characteristics and needs of residents are repeated. This can lead to quality degradation.
Therefore, in order to propose the architectural design characteristics of apartment houses reflecting locality, this study set a spatial range for the Cheonan area and analyzed the characteristics through cases of apartment houses supplied for sale to the private sector by limiting the temporal range from 2015 to 2020. Also, the perception of apartment design preference factors is investigated for apartment residents. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of apartment design preferences of the residents of Cheonan City and to identify the characteristics to suggest design elements of apartments supplied to Cheonan City.
