Radish (2n = 18) is a vegetable crop that occupies an important position in the domestic vegetable seed market and its production and consumption in Korea were of the third following kimchi cabbage and onion in 2019. A variety of cultivars have been developed not only in Korean but multinational companies and molecular markers have been also developed to identify these cultivars. However, using molecular markers developed so far need significant time and cost because they require the large number of markers and/or expensive equipment for high-throughput genotyping mostly with single nucleotide polymorphism. This study was conducted to determine the minimum number of molecular markers for cultivar identification in radish, which represents the entire genome and needs only basic equipment for molecular biology.
