The first generation of only child in China grew up with the speedy development of science and education in China since the 1980s. Some of them worked as "post-1980s" Chinese writers to describe their personal experiences which immersed in Chinese school education intensively. Focusing on the status of Chinese education from the 1990s to the beginning of the 21st century, most of the representative growth novels by "post-1980s" Chinese writers were published at the beginning of the 21st century and aroused widespread resonance among Chinese adolescents in the early 21st century. As a part of Chinese Bildungsroman, these growth novels represent the campus life of middle schools and universities under the exam-oriented education system in China. With different emotional tones such as humor or anxiousness, these works continue to appeal to young readers by recording and reflecting the psychological state and real world of contemporary Chinese young people in the process of receiving their school education and trying to enter their social life.
