Introduction and Background
Arthroscopic superior capsular reconstruction (ASCR) for irreparable rotator cuff tears is a good option. Compared to studies using tensor fascia lata autograft or dermal allograft, there are few studies using tensor fascia lata allograft. Also, not much is known about the factors that influence the graft retear after surgery. The purpose of this study is to confirm the clinical and radiologic outcome of ASCR using tensor fascia lata allograft, and to identify factors that affect retear.
Material and Method
Twenty-seven cases of irreparable rotator cuff tears treated with ASCR with tensor fascia lata allograft. A mean age of 62 years. The cases were followed-up for an average of 17 months. Mean size of rotator cuff tear and retraction were 30mm and 36mm, respectively. Range of motion (ROM), visual analog scale (VAS) pain score, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) and Constant score were evaluated preoperatively and at final follow-up.
