Introduction and Background
To investigate clinical and radiologic predictors associated with recurrence of septic shoulder after surgery.
Material and Method
Forty-three patients (mean age, 68 years; 24 women) underwent surgery for septic shoulder between January 2011 to October 2019 were enrolled. An orthopedic surgeon assessed clinicolaboratory findings (age, sex, duration from symptom to MRI and from symptom to surgery, surgery method, antibiotic usage, white blood cell [WBC] count, and C-reactive protein [CRP] levels) and two musculoskeletal radiologists evaluated radiologic findings (bone marrow lesions [edema, osteomyelitis, and osteochondral erosion] and soft tissue lesions [synovitis, bursitis, and muscle edema]). Recurrence of septic shoulder was evaluated during a follow-up period of at least 12 months.
