This study summarizes the clothing materials that appear in Yeonam Park Ji-won"s book "Yolhailgi" and examines his view of costumes. The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, Yeonam briefly describes his observations about Qing Dynasty clothing, followed by a more detailed description of Manchu ornaments such as the Chaozhu (朝珠) and the head of the hat, as well as the foot-binding(纏足) of a Han Chinese woman. In addition, Yeonam mentions that people performing in banquets wore Han Chinese costumes, which were commonly recorded by Joseon"s envoys. Secondly, Yeonam regards the transformation of the Qing dynasty as invoking pressure and restraint on the head of men, much like the foot of the Han Chinese woman, to use the expression of a Qing dynasty scholar, Hu Ting(鵠汀). Thirdly, Yeonam introduces some of the costumes worn by Joseon"s envoys. Fourthly, he expresses negative opinions about Joseon"s Got and concerns about the wide sleeves of Dopo and Cheolik. In particular, he argues that Dopo and Got were ridiculed because they resembled Chinese monks. Fifthly, Yeonam argues that the Qing Dynasty"s Socha (繅車) should be introduced to improve weaving technology and that all wool hats imported from China should be produced in Joseon to prevent waste of silver. Sixth, in "Heosaengjeon," Yeonam states that learning about Qing Dynasty culture is essential and that it is necessary to talk with members of this culture, even if there are limits to their practice of cutting the topknot. In other narratives, Yeonam expresses a sense of relief that the Joseon Dynasty maintains hair and clothing. This study further confirms that Yeonam did not deviate from the Joseonjungwhajuwyi (朝鮮中華主義) and only accepted either the advanced technology of the Qing Dynasty or considered plans to reduce costs.
