Yeongdo-gu, Busan is an area with historical and geographical characteristics. Historically, it served as a temporary capital during the Korean War and was also a haven for refugees from the north. Geographically, it is surrounded by the sea, so it has abundant fisheries resources and a good environment to create ports. Due to this environment, it became the base of the Japanese invasion and became the mecca of the shipbuilding industry. Since the late 1990s, the Yeongdo area has also worked on local content discovery and regeneration projects due to the wave of local branding by local governments, and 2013 when Yeongdo Bridge was rebuilt became the starting point. The district office conducted a signboard maintenance project for street trees and shops on the street from Yeongdo Police Station to Woori Bank’s Yeongdo branch, and efforts to find and brand storytelling contents such as Ganggang Village Regeneration Project and Huinnyeoul Culture Village Maintenance Project have continued. They were commissioned to produce the work for the maintenance project of Yeongdo Police Station at the beginning of Yeongdo. It took about six months. First, the storytelling was produced based on historical facts centered on Yeongdo Bridge and seven themes were selected. The scenery of the shipyard village, the last stop of the tram, the scenery of Yeongdo from the old city hall, Yeongdo from the dried fish store in Jagalchi, Yeongdo Bridge, and the view of the ship traveling between Yeongdo and Jagalchi. Seven collage works were produced and installed in seven art walls. The main topic focused on the materials and production methods of these works, and the meaning and effect of these works. The works reflecting the historical story and surrounding environment around Yeongdo Bridge reflect the ecology and living environment that make up the topography, space, and space of an area. It is expected to be remembered as a model for many urban regeneration projects and content production in Korea.
