Purpose
Locally advanced pancreatic cancer(LAPC) was surgically unresectable and for patients with LAPC were bound to undergo chemotherapy. FOLFIRINOX was used to treat those patients and several studies focused on FOLFIRINOX effect in LAPC. However various regimen and combined patients’ groups made it difficult to judge FOLFIRINOX’s impact. Therefore further studies are still needed to evaluate the long-term clinical outcomes of patients who underwent resection using unified surgical standard after FOLFIRINOX neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The aim of this study is to find out the survival benefit of conversion surgery in LAPC in the era of FOLFIRINOX.
Methods
Patients who diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and classified as a LAPC at Seoul National University Hospital and received FOLFIRINOX as a 1st line therapy at least 4 cycles were included. During chemotherapy, patients were evaluated surgical eligibility using radiologic no evidence of distant metastasis and metabolic response of treatment through FDG PET with nearly normalized serum CA 19-9.
