As climate change issues become more important, countries around the world are declaring carbon neutrality, and Korea also announced a strategy to promote carbon neutrality in 2050. There are various means for carbon neutrality, but new and renewable energy is in the spotlight as a means of reducing greenhouse gases, enhancing energy security, and new growth engines. As investment in new and renewable energy increases, the economic effect on related industries is becoming an important issue. This study aims to analyze the trend of economic effects by new and renewable energy sources from 2020 to 2034 based on the new and renewable energy forecasts in the 9th Basic Plan for Power Supply and Demand using input output analysis. The result shows that the new and renewable energy industry showed a higher induced impacts on outputs than the overall industry average, but induced impacts on value added and induced impacts on employment were low. By renewable energy source, wind power, fuel cell, small-sclae hydro, and solar power were found to have the greatest economic effect. In addition, when new and renewable energy is supplied according to the government"s goal, about 292 trillion won in induced impacts on outputs, 103 trillion won in induced impacts on value added, and about 91,000 job creations occur between 2020 and 2034.
