The purpose of this study was to examine the factors affecting student satisfaction with regard to online courses that were introduced to provide students with the opportunity to study courses not offered at their schools. The main findings are as follows: First, those students who voluntarily enrolled in online courses and regularly attended them reported significantly higher satisfaction with online courses. Second, the more support and help students received from their online tutors and managing teachers, the higher was the student satisfaction with respect to online courses. Third, the quality of learning content and the convenience of the Learning Management System were positively associated with the level of course satisfaction. Practical and theoretical implications of these findings are also discussed. This study can not only contribute practically in enhancing the quality of online courses by identifying factors that affect student satisfaction with online courses, but also academically in expanding the existing literature of online courses that focuses on the higher education level to the secondary education level. Thus, in order to improve the effectiveness of online courses, plans should be developed to hire online tutors full-time and support their professional development, provide high-quality content, improve the functions of the Learning Management System and ensure students’ voluntary participation.
