In the 21st Century, not only Korean Church but the whole Church over the world are interested in the theme of, namely, “spirituality.” To be more specific, it might be right to say that other religions and secular academics seem to have more interests in spirituality than Christian Church and theology. Therefore the word “spirituality” has wide range in meanings on the bright side; but on the dark side, itbecame something that we can not clarify exactly even in the church and theology. Since the definitions of “spirituality” differ among denominations and organizations, it can be applied to any area, but can not be defined clearly what itself means. For this confused definition of “spirituality”, there are two extreme reflections, firstly who sees it through “dogmatic quietism,” and secondly who sees it through “charismatic mysticism.” In such a circumstance, A. T. Pierson’s theology and spirituality teach us mediatorial spirituality which does not lean neither to “dogmatic quietism” nor to “charismatic mysticism.” Pierson’s theology tells not a theology of “either A or B” but of “between A and B” which does not lean on any one side but embraces both sides. Therefore, the spirituality of A. T. Pierson not only shows us the right direction to today’s confused rampant concept of spirituality, but also teaches what the goal of Christian life ought to be through genuine understanding of spirituality. First, the concept of “spirituality” in the Christian History is dealt. And then, it is examined that the true spirituality is Christian spirituality and “charismatic mysticism” is also in a category of spirituality with “dogmatic quietism.” Last but not least, it is explored that how A. T. Pierson understands the spirituality. It is to clarify that spirituality is neither limited just in dogma or charismaticism or Christian life, nor a too broad meaning, but a holistic meaning of Christian holy life resembling Christ in the Holy Spirit, through the spirituality of A. T. Pierson.
