This study deals with the meaning of the memory of the 100th commemorative address of the March 1 Independence Movement and the 100th commemorative address of the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. To this end, this study dealt with the fact that the commemorative address is memory narrative reproducing the past in a special way, and that it implies a special cultural restraint logic as a public memory in that it is officially presented by the state’s institutional procedures. As a result of the study, the meaning of the 100th commemorative address of the March 1st Independence Movement is summed up as ‘a country of past liquidation and innovative engagement’. The 100th commemorative address of the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea was the ‘Inheritance of the Provisional Government and the Better Republic of Korea’, which formed the meaning of the memory narrative. In addition, it discussed that the two commemorative addresses are not meant solely by the commemorative address, but rather present the present meaning by intersecting various memory practices.
