This study is to explore the work of Yoshitomo Nara, a representative Japanese neo-pop artist, along with the occurrence of neo-pop. To this end, the researchers of this study first looked at the background of the birth of Neo-pop in Japan, and then classified and studied the characteristics of Neo-pop into three categories. Its characteristics were firstly 'subculture' represented by otaku, 'kawaii', which strategically emphasized postwar reduction-oriented and cuteness, and finally 'grotesque' aesthetics derived from ancient Japanese culture to the present. Next, in order to quantitatively examine the correlation between 'Yoshitomo Nara' and 'Neo Pop', word clustering of over 1,300 media articles reported in Korea from January 1, 1990 to the present, was conducted with Yoshitomo Nara. The correlation of Neo Pop was examined numerically. As a result of the analysis, it was found that Yoshitomo Nara and Neo Pop had a quantitative linear relationship. Next, through the analysis of related search words by Yoshitomo Nara, we were able to derive meaningful words such as the relationship between fellow ‘1965’ author Takashi Murakami, and the leading Neo-Pop artist who leads Japanese popular culture according to the frequency and weight. Lastly, based on these three characteristics of neo-pop, I tried to reflect on the relevance of Japanese neo-pop by examining Nara Yoshimoto's work in detail.
