Population is the most basic data of a society. Therefore, rapid changes in population cause great waves in society as a whole, so countries make various efforts to prevent rapid increase or rapid decrease of population depending on the situation. Now, our society is experiencing the age of low birthrate and is about to enter the aging society. The importance of population education is getting bigger now that the population is undergoing such rapid change. However, the population education research so far has been mainly focused on the analysis of curriculum and textbooks, and there is a lack of research on how classes are conducted in actual classrooms. Therefore, this study analyzed 287 lesson plans for population education in 7 elementary schools for the 2019 school year to understand the actual situation of population education in the actual classroom. As a result of the analysis, there were problems such as lack of awareness of teachers, bias toward specific areas of population education, pessimism about population change, and narrow view of problem situation. Therefore, in order to solve these problems and to provide the right population education, the following suggestions are made: First, teachers' interest and understanding about population education are needed. Second, it is necessary to prepare a plan to provide practical help to population education.
